I met Angelina yesterday before my class.
We talked a little about our weekends and classes at CIES before we start reading stories.
I copied and brought 3 stories from the book- Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul. The story is easy to understand, but it has several new vocabulary words she doesn't know in every story, so I think this is a good book for her study. We could use top-down strategy, and I believe it will be helpful for her English study.
She asked me some words she doesn't know, and I explained with definition and examples. I used my electric dictionary on pronunciation for the words to give her better hearing. We could finish only one story, but I gave her the rest copies to read herself at home. We overlooked only on vocabulary on the rest 2 stories, so she can read them easily.
I love reading stories from the Chicken Soup series. The stories always have a really good message that the authors are trying to convey to the reader. Maybe you could ask Angelina to provide you with the meaning/main point of the article as well. :)
