CO 3: Caitlin (Grammar)

I observed Candace Walters’ grammar class a few weeks ago and really liked the format of the class. Candace had the agenda written on the board and started the lesson with a bellringer activity as a pre lesson/review to assess what students remember. The topic of the class was countable and uncountable nouns. Candace had the class do a bell ringer activity that was clearly a review from the previous day’s lesson. The class went over the exercises and then  Candace started the lesson about which quantifies could be used with each type of noun,
For example:
Singular countable nouns use ‘a/an’ or ‘the’
Plural countable nouns use ‘the’ or ‘no articles’
Singular noncountable nouns use ‘no article’ or ‘the’

The conclusion of the class was an interactive activity where each student had a card that said countable or noncountable  and Candace quizzed the class about the nouns (some with quantifiers and some without). The students were supposed to hold up the correct side of the card to answer so the class had some activities that were more kinesthetic because the students had to hold up the right card to participate.
