Jesse Marks CO#2 Meredith Hubbard

I had the pleasure of observing Meredith Hubbard's Level Four reading class. The following is a break down of the lesson order:

1. She wrote an outline for day on the board so that the students would know what they would cover during the day.

2. She reminded the students of assignments that would be due the following day as well as a quick description of their final projects.

3. For the active lesson, one of the students would be facilitating discussion around an article she had been working with for several weeks. Her assignment was to read the article with the class. Following the reading, she would have the students practice skimming in order to find the answers to her question. She was basically facilitating a dicto-comp activity with a fusion of speaking comprehension questions.

4. After the lesson, Mrs. Hubbard would take note of the students' errors and make a quiz out of them in the following class.

I was impressed by Mrs. Hubbard's teaching style. She was constantly conscious of time and successful kept every activity within the time limit. When needed, she would help guide students to the correct answer without giving it to them. This was important because it allowed the students to explore the answer and feel that they discovered it. It can be a silent encouragement to them.
