CP #10 Mark G.
In what is very much an extension of my last conversation session, Sung came over Friday night to make some Korean BBQ that he holds so dear. To try and contribute something adequate enough for the evening, I made a big salad, a bunch of rice, and got some chips, pita, and hummus. Oh yea, whisky and beer! When Sung arrived, he showed me the delicious meat marinating in the sauce. It smelled like green onion and smelled sweet and garlicky. Yum! While I cooked the rice he started cooking the meat. The combination of the two filled the house with a delicious scent, drawing everyone to the kitchen. When everything was ready, we sat down to eat at the table. After the usual "bon appétit!" we all dug in. Well, to be honest I am a slow eater, however everyone seemed to be eating at an elevated rate. I think it was due to the deliciousness of what we were eating. Well all talked about all sorts of things, for example music, school, and what was most helpful for me, some advice about where to teach in Korea! For dessert we had a combination of brownies that my friend Andrea made, and coffee bean ice cream..As my last blog post as far as conversation partners goes, I feel that I have gotten to learn more intimately about several different cultures. I have enjoyed my time with Sung and look forward to continuing our friendship, here and in South Korea!
