Mark B. TP #11

Soon after my session with Andre, I tutored with Marco. We met in the same spot and performed the same activity as I did with Andre, just with slight modifications. In case you don't want to look at my previous blog post for reference, here's a brief review of the exercise: I gave him the picture section of the FSView. In it were various photographs of screaming fans in the bleachers of Doak stadium.

Since Marco was a level one at CIES, or a beginner, I had to change my expectations with him. Instead of summarizing and creating a story, I asked him to just describe the scenes in complete sentences. For example, "the girl is wearing shorts and a red t-shirt" and "the boy has paint on his body". Some of the sentences we had to describe first and then I would scaffold/help him with formulating a complete thought. Also, I gave him a chart with who/what/when/where/why. This aided his thought process in finding the most important details to write about. Overall, I was pleased with Marco's work and so was he.
