Jesse Marks TP#8 Qiyan

This was my first opportunity to work with Qiyan. We met in on of the CIES classrooms and began planning a course for our tutoring sessions. Qiyan told me that she wanted to practice listening and speaking. Because of a time crunch, we did not have alot of time to break this session into different activities, so we practiced conversation. I had her speak about her hobbies and life in America. We focused on speaking in proper tenses, and making sure that tenses remained consisten through the conversation. Our conversation shifted to playing music. This was a great activity because Qiyan and I both play piano, and it allowed for our knowledge to work together. We packed up our bags and went to the music building to play piano. This was a good opportunity because she was able to produce meaningful conversation without the stress of grades or extreme correction. We both had a wonderful time!
