Jesse Marks TP#12 Mico
Last night, I had the opportunity to get together with Mico again! We have had a wonderful time working together to improve her English skills! She is an encouragement for me as an undergraduate student because She is working very hard in English to enter into the Master program. This lesson, she was required to interview a native speaker, and I was the interviewee. She asked me general questions that we required from the sheet regarding where I was from and my childhood. However, the conversation soon changed into a deeper topic of American culture and its differences from the rest of the world at the family level. I was very impressed with her ability to discuss abstract concepts about divorce and psychology. We made a list of new vocabulary that she could then learn. It was a wonderful conversation. Her questions, I feel, came from her deep desire to know and understand American culture. She recorded the whole of our conversation so that she would be able to piece it together, and apply the words that she learned. This was one of my favorite exchanges of culture and language.
