TP #12 Mel

This week I met with Maria and we spent most of our time going over her science homework. She seems to have a lot of trouble with the vocabulary in her science books and it inhibits her from understanding the content of the book. A simple worksheet took us much longer than I really thought it should have.  She seemed frustrated by the whole ordeal of reading the book and still being clueless about the material, so we focused on it for a very long while and although I stopped and explained she still struggled. I think for next week I'm going to try a different approach, maybe incorporate flashcards so she can visualize the content better. After we did her science homework, we read for a little bit and that was much more enjoyable for her. We had to select a book from the library to read because she had finished the book we were previously reading, and I found it amusing that she selected a book that was way below her level and seemed disheartened when it still wasn't as easy as she thought it should have been.
