For my final conversation partner meeting, Bruno and I hung
out in the CIES lounge. As I walked up to him, I noticed that he was reading a
TIME magazine about science. I knew that Bruno was very interested in science
and mathematics, because he majored in mechanical engineering. I asked him
about what he was reading, and even though I listened very carefully and
attentively, I found it hard to grasp any of the concepts that he was happily
telling me about. I would definitely never categorize myself as one who likes
or understands math and science, although I appreciate its value. Moreover, I could see the joy that it was
bringing Bruno while he was writing down equations and talking about theories,
so I did not feel bad whenever I continued to ask questions. Somehow, we
arrived on the topic of soccer, which happens to be something that I love and
know a lot about. We discussed players, teams, and coaches. Finally, we
discussed weekend plans. I told him that I would be in Tallahassee this weekend
and asked for suggestions of things to do. He invited me to a couple of
functions that were happening, one of which was first Friday. We have something
similar in Valdosta, but I believe that I would like to experience what
Tallahassee has to offer. J
