Today I met with Sangjin. We met for coffee at Paneras. It was really nice talking to Sangjin. He is fromin , and has been in this country for a little over a year. He seems eager to learn English; and he has developed an interest in learning as much as possible about American culture and customs .Sangjin plays in major golf tournaments, in fact, this month he has a tournament coming up.
Our conversation was lively and very funny. We exchanged stories about our childhood, family, and friends. It appeared that ,we had more experiences in common, despite the distance between culture and miles .
We both coome from large familes, but have relatives near and far; cousins we know of, but never have met.
Our conversation reminded me of something my mother would often say, "It is the common experience of being human that makes the difference we have seem so small."
Pam, your mom says such wise things. After all, she did name you "loved one"! Where is your partner from? I'm curious to hear more about him and the way you two connect.
ReplyDeleteWow, you have an awesome mom, Pam! I totally agree with her! =)
