I met Bruno, Luichang, and Binshan for the first time
yesterday during Tea Time. We spent the entire time talking and getting to know
each other. Bruno is from Brazil; however, both Luichang and Binshan are from
China. Bruno studies mechanical engineering; whereas, Binshan and Luichang both
want to study communications. I love the fact that I have such diversity in conversation
partners, because I enjoy learning about new cultures. Luichang was very shy,
but Binshan and Bruno were very talkative. Topics of conversation ranged
anywhere from favorite pets to places that we would love to visit one day. In
reference to the topic of pets, I showed my partners a video of my two cats,
and they loved it. I also asked them for suggestions of things to do and places
to go in Tallahassee since I am not from the area. However, they have not been
in Tallahassee very long either, so I suppose we will just have to discover the
area together if time permits. Bruno and I share similar athletic interests,
because we both are big soccer fans. Similarly, Binshan, Luichang, and I are extremely
addicted to playing Candy Crush (although I know a lot of people that suffer from Candy Crush addiction)! I enjoyed finding common ground with my conversation
partners, and I am looking forward to many more meetings in the future.
You guys should visit Lake Ella, Alice! Or Railroad Square, if they like artsy type places. All Saint's Cafe is near there, too, and it's a cute little offbeat coffee shop. I don't know all sides of Tallahassee, but those are places I loved when I lived here full-time. We should generate ideas in class, too, so our partners get the best of Tallahassee :)
ReplyDeleteOh, what lovely ideas! I agree. Initially, I felt bad, because I had no clue what to do or where to go. However, once I realized they were just as clueless about places and also understanding, I found that our cluelessness provided a great opportunity to just explore Tallahassee together.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you would enjoy watching some of the games played by FSU's women's soccer team. They have long been one of the best teams in the nation.
ReplyDeleteThat's great that you were able to find something in common with your conversation partners. Hopefully you will have some adventures around the area to discover Tallahassee. I look forward to reading about your adventures with your conversation partners. I like Rosalie's idea about generating ideas of places to go in class. I'm local so please let me know if you want more ideas of places like parks or unique activities.
