CP#3 Alice

Yesterday during Tea Time I met with Luichang and Binshan. I spent most of the day before our meeting pondering about possible activities that we could work on together for an hour.  I remember the girls telling me in our previous meeting that they liked playing poker. They weren’t big gamblers, but they liked playing and watching others play. Now, the extent of my card game skills begins and ends with playing solitaire, which I tend to do whenever I’m bored and in need of something to relax my mind. I decided to meet somewhere in the middle of poker and solitaire by picking the card game Go Fish! It is a fun game and extremely easy to explain. I even bought a bag of assorted chocolates to use as prizes for the winners. Needless to say, I felt pretty prepared for our meeting.
When I met up with the girls, they were smiling and happy as usual. We went back to the lounge, put our bags down, and loaded our napkins up with food. As we sat down, I started to take out the stack of playing cards that I bought on my way to Tallahassee. Before I could finish unloading my backpack, Binshan asked me if we could continue playing the game we played last time – modified Taboo. Luichang chimed in and said that she wanted to continue playing as well, because she wanted to learn more vocabulary. Even though I had already planned the activity for the hour (I must mention that I am a stickler for keeping an agenda), I couldn’t say no to their enthusiastic, smiling faces!!
Every time I meet up with the girls, I can tell that they are getting more comfortable with me. When we first met, they were both very shy and reserved. I was also very shy and nervous.  However, the more we meet, the more the random chatter increases. We talked about everything from how gorgeous Nick Jonas is to what the symbolic meanings of different colors were in China. Yesterday, we were all wearing some form of red, which happens to be a very auspicious color. I do not tend to wear a lot of red, but I might consider changing up my wardrobe selection for a little more luck!
