CP 2: Hipsters and Hippies

I met Husain at Strozier, he explained that he is from Oman and has worked in various places in the Middle East. We ended up going to the Pitaria for lunch. He tells me that he walks everywhere and has lost a lot of weight since he has come to America. That’s why America is the fittest place on earth, I said. At Pitaria we delved into a deep conversation about the differences between Hippies and Hipsters. Husain seemed very curious about this subject. This led to a thirty minute conversation about the differences and similarities and also how Brooklyn is the Hipster capital of the world. As an activity we decided to gain empirical data by surreptitiously observing hipsters at Pitaria. As we left Pitaria we spoke about places not to go in Tallahassee. He then pointed down the street near to where I lived and said he heard it’s a bad place. He was right. Next we might go to the coliseum due to his penchant for night clubs.

  1. I find it good that you went with the flow and engaged Husain where his interests lay.

  2. Please share what these places are that one should not go to while in Tallahassee!! I have no clue where anything is in Tallahassee, and I would like to avoid bad places if possible. :)

  3. Thats great your conversation partner likes to walk around. Mine isn't as keen to walking around campus and the surrounding area. Good convo. too. Important distinction in American culture. =)
